• Business and the Beach

Professionals and entrepreneurs are choosing to set up shop at the Stonebridge Town Centre in Wasaga Beach and located at River Road West and Main Street South. Part of the 95-acre Stonebridge by the Bay community, people who work at the Stonebridge Town Centre are lucky enough to also live in the community: they can walk or bike to work and get to know their clients who may even be neighbours. This summer the community hosted the second annual Wasaga Beach Blues music festival, featuring artists such as The Legendary Downchild Blues Band, Fathead and the Johnny Max Band.

Residents can find their favourite and trusted brands at the Stonebridge Town Centre, such as Travelworld, the UPS Store, Boston Pizza, Wild Wing, Tim Hortons & Cold Stone Creamery, Century21, Bulk Barn, EB Games, Swiss Chalet and Harvey's. Newly opened businesses include Dollar Tree and Bamboo Terrace. There are more than two dozen businesses here including medical, professional and financial services. More are on the horizon.

Angela and Rachelle at Travelworld offer a full range of travel services. Opened in 2009 they aim to help you plan the vacation of your dreams.

Trish Gawlik and her partner George (a contractor with Stonebridge) own the UPS Store at Stonebridge Town Centre. Trish is more than happy with the other business owners. She is active in the community and can be counted on to offer a hand.

"The merchants here are like a family...supportive and caring," she says.

Mary Ann Watts of Wild Wing is like Trish, active and helpful. Wild Wing hosts live music throughout the year and a motorcycle rally every May.

The Wasaga Sun/Stayner Sun moved to the Stonebridge Town Centre earlier this year. Carol Lamb of the Simcoe-West, Grey Metroland North Media Group, which includes the two newspapers said they moved to Stonebridge because it is a major commercial hub in Wasaga Beach. Being in a high-traffic area allows the newspapers to connect easily with their readers and advertisers.

Sandy and Alex Smardenka run Boston Pizza and live at Stonebridge by the Bay. Their sons Phil and Tino run the Swiss Chalet.

"The developer really cares about the community. He is creating a well-planned neighbourhood; every detail, even the trails are beautiful. We have the best of everything here," Sandy says.
